Final print collection

I am impressed with my over all prints and I feel that I have managed to represent the over all feel of the use of colour in my original image when they are all placed together. Some of the cream colours have dried a bit lighter than I would have hoped on the prints created in the print room, however I don't think they effect the overall feel of the collection and I don't find it to be too much of an issue. I took another look at the use of colour in my original image and I noticed that I have over estimated how much black was originally used in the image and I think this had affected the over all feel of my photo shop images, so I feel that I have restricted myself because there are only a few digital images I can use in my collection. I think it is very unfortunate that I didn't notice this error sooner.

Getting Closer to my print collection

I am getting closer to the end of my project and I need to start thinking about the prints I will use for my final collection. I have laid out all of my prints in order to pick out the ones that compliment each other and look like a collection when placed together.

Photo Shop 2

With these photo shop prints I have uploaded and edited my own photos of my initial hand printed objects and used them as backgrounds. I thought this was a good way to include the work I had done at the beginning of the project that I didn't want to see go to waste. I think these prints look really effective because they have a hand drawn quality to them.

Photo Shop

I have been using photo shop to create some of my own digital prints and I have downloaded the program so that I can practice more at home. I really like the way you can use layering on photo shop and I think it makes the prints look very effective.

Artist Research

I have looked at an artist called Viz Arlington, who created these interesting silhouettes of animals that are filled with ink bubbles. I thought that the different sizes of circles looked really effective, so I started to experiment with my own designs...

Photo Shop Print
I have used my own motifs as the silhouette and filled the image with more of my smaller motifs. I feel that this composition would work well even if it wasn't created as the fill for a silhouette and I plan on creating more pieces with the same effect.

Prints that didn't work

I have used the material I dyed in the dye bath as backgrounds for these prints, but because the colours are so different from my original colour pallet I don't feel that I can use them in my final collection. I also think that the tie die backgrounds were too busy to begin with as I found it quite hard to know where to start when making the print.

Mono Printing

I was really impressed with how my mono prints came out and I regret not using this technique more through out my project. Initially I found it hard to achieve the right colours because they appear a lot darker in the beakers, for example, the orange colour in the cup created the yellow colour on the cloth, which then became even lighter after fixing. I think that this technique is a really good way to create backgrounds because your colours will be more suited to your colour scheme and each background will be different.
